Waterfall is an easy out-and-back hike in the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 0.8 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 576 feet, and it is rated easy. The route is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mullan Pass show July and August highs around 70°F with only about six wet days a month, while winter highs sit in the upper 20s. Scribner Falls is about 0.3 miles away, and Mallard Peak and Pole Mountain are each within a mile. Surveyors Lookout campground is about 2.5 miles off.
