Tincup Mountain is a hard hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Soda Springs Ranger District. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 6,245 feet to 8,003 feet, a gain of 1,649 feet over 11.4 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trailhead is named Tincup Mountain Trailhead, with parking at Tincup Mountain. The route is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. It is a year-round trail, and the nearest town is Soda Springs. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bondurant, Wyoming, show July and August highs around 80°F with lows near 40°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-20s. Pine Bar campground and the Lau Creek hike both sit about half a mile away. Bear-Jacknife and Bear-Hubler-Jacknife Creek are each about 1.3 miles off.
