Six Mile Ridge is a hard hike of about 8.7 miles on an out-and-back route in the Krassel Ranger District of Idaho's Payette National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at a low point of about 4,011 feet and climbs to a high point of about 5,885 feet, with a total gain of about 307 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Yellowpine show July and August highs around 87°F, while temperatures on the ridge run cooler. Winter is cold, with January highs around 36°F. The trail's natural surface allows for biking. Indian Ridge Trail is about 1.4 miles away, and Fitsum Creek is about 2.5 miles away. For an overnight base, Deadman Bar Camping and Confluence Camping are both within about 5 miles.
