Rumble is a short, easy hike on Bureau of Land Management land in the Challis Field Office in Idaho, about 0.4 miles long. It's an out-and-back route with a total climb of about 330 feet, so the one-way gain is about 157 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 17% grade. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Challis show July highs around 87°F with lows near 52°F, while winter highs stay near 29°F. That station sits roughly 900 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. Bikes and horses are both allowed. Overlook and Lower Blue View are both about 0.1 mile away, and the Challis-Yankee Fork Ranger District offers river fishing about 1.7 miles off.
