Rapid River is an easy out-and-back hike in Idaho's Payette National Forest, within the New Meadows Ranger District. The trail is about 1.8 miles long, with a total climb of about 400 feet. It starts at an elevation of roughly 6,600 feet and rises to about 7,200 feet at the high point. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is short enough for a quick outing. For more time on foot, Upper Lick Creek lies about a mile away, and Twin Lakes Creek Trail, Cub Creek and Lost Basin Trail are each about 1.5 miles off.
