Holman Creek is a hard out-and-back hike of about 6 miles on natural trail in Idaho's Sawtooth National Recreation Area, part of the Sawtooth National Forest. The route rises about 1,350 feet from a low point of roughly 5,670 feet to a high of around 7,018 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Stanley put July and August highs around 80°F with lows in the upper 30s and only five or six wet days a month. That station sits about 520 feet lower than the high point, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Holman Creek Campground is about 0.2 miles away. Mill Creek is about a mile off, and French Creek and Burnt Creek are both within 4 miles.
