The Pend Oreille Lake area in Idaho is a year-round destination on Forest Service land, about 1.7 miles from the town of Sagle. Native peoples such as the Kalispel and Kutenai were the first inhabitants of this region, living along the waterways and relying on the abundant natural resources. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. At a nearby weather station in Sandpoint, typical July and August highs reach about 82°F with lows near 50°F and only five or six wet days a month. Winters there typically average highs in the low 30s and lows in the low 20s. The area offers a wide range of activities. Anglers can fish, and anglers can find Gamlin Lake about 5.8 miles away.
