About Red Top Mountain

Red Top Mountain is a summit in Red Top Mountain State Park in Georgia, about 3 miles from the town of Emerson. It sits close to Allatoona Lake, and the park around it is the base for exploring the area on foot. The most comfortable times to visit are spring and fall. A nearby weather station at Allatoona Dam, at roughly the same elevation, typically records October highs around 73°F with lows near 49°F, and April highs around 72°F. Summer highs typically reach the upper 80s. Several trails and climbing spots are within a short distance. The Homestead Trail is about a third of a mile away and the Sweet Gum Trail is under a mile away. Climbers can head to Red Top Mountain Boulder, about 0.7 miles away, or to the Lake Allatoona Boulders, about 1.4 miles away.
