Rabun Beach Recreation Area is a Forest Service campground in the Chattooga River Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia, about 10 miles from Clayton. It sits in the hills overlooking Lake Rabun, and the lake is right across the road, offering swimming, boating, fishing and time to take in the scenery. The recreation area is developed for camping and hiking. The Rabun Beach hike starts just 0.1 mile away, and Angel Falls is 0.4 mile off. Lake Rabun Beach Recreation Area, another campground, is 0.3 mile away. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 71°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F. Fees are charged for activities here.
