A.T. Low Gap Shelter is a campground in the Mark Trail Wilderness, within the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia. It sits on land managed by the State Department of Natural Resources and lies about 3 miles from the parking lot. The site is also within the Appalachian National Scenic Trail corridor and the Chattahoochee Wildlife Management Area. No fees are required to use the shelter, which makes it an easy stop for hikers and paddlers passing through the area. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Blairsville show October highs around 70°F with lows near 43°F, and May highs around 76°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the shelter, so temperatures at the site run cooler. The Nottely River, about 3 miles away, offers canoeing.
