Mashamoquet Brook State Park is a Connecticut state park about 4 miles from the town of Brooklyn, in the state's northeast corner. Several outings start right around it, so it works well as a base for a day of short hikes or bouldering. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable stretch for a visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Hampton put June highs around 75°F and September highs near 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 80°F. Within about half a mile you'll find the Mashamoquet Brook Park Trail and Wolf Den Nature Trail for hiking, plus Big Bad Wolf Boulder for climbers. Natchaug State Forest, about 2.5 miles away, offers more climbing.
