Waramaug Trail is a short hike in Connecticut, about 0.8 miles long, with a climb of about 460 feet from the start elevation of roughly 1,250 feet to a high point of about 1,268 feet. It's an easy walk, and it ends just below that high point, so it works well as a quick outing. The trail runs between the town of New Preston, about 1.2 miles away, and several other routes in the surrounding area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 78°F and lows near 59°F, while winter brings highs near freezing and regular snow from December through February. That station sits at a similar elevation, so temperatures on the trail should run close to those figures. The Meeker Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Story Walk Trail and Hay Field Loop are each within a mile. Paddlers can reach the Shepaug River about 2.4 miles off.
