Shenipsit is a 1.7-mile point-to-point hike on the Manchester Reservoir Property in Connecticut, set at an elevation of about 656 feet and climbing to roughly 862 feet. The trail is an easy walk with a rolling profile, and it gains about 380 feet before it finishes. The route's steepest stretch comes at about 0.37 miles in, where the grade reaches 20 percent. The climb is not steep enough to slow progress much, and the trip takes about an hour. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Storrs weather station put July highs around 80°F with lows near 63°F, while September cools to highs in the low 70s. The Gay City Trail starts just 0.3 miles away, and the Pond Loop Trail lies about 1.3 miles off. Case Mountain, a climbing area, is about a mile away, and John and Frederica Johnson Memorial Camp is roughly 4.8 miles away.
