Ridge Loop Trail is a short, easy hike of about a mile in Connecticut's Campbell's Peaceful Valley Conservation Area, a network of trails that makes it easy to string together a longer outing. The route gains about 150 feet in elevation, with the steepest stretch coming early on, around 0.2 miles in, where the grade reaches about 11 percent. The trail starts at roughly 808 feet and reaches a high point of about 849 feet before descending to a low of about 706 feet. That makes it a gentle loop with a small climb and a longer descent, and the whole trip takes about half an hour. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Staffordville show May highs around 68°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 81°F. Ledge Loop Trail sits just 0.1 mile away, and Loop Trail and Campbell Connectors are both within half a mile. For time on the water, the Middle River is about 6 miles off.
