Old Cedar Trail is a short, easy hike of about half a mile at Oak Grove Nature Center in Connecticut. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is gentle, with a total elevation gain of 22 feet and a steepest grade of about 3% near the start. The trail begins at an elevation of about 330 feet and reaches a high point of 338 feet before descending slightly to a low of 299 feet. The whole trip takes about half an hour, so it works well as a quick addition to a visit to the nature center. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Hartford show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F. Pond Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Highland Trail and Lookout Mountain Trail are both within about a mile. Climbers can find the Red-Yellow area about 1.2 miles off.
