Mary Moore Cliff Trail is an easy hike in Connecticut's Mudgetown area, about 1.8 miles from the town. The trail is 0.76 miles long, and it rises from about 956 feet to a high point of 1,193 feet, making the climb a steady one with a total gain of 222 feet. The route is point-to-point rather than a loop, and the steepest stretch comes early on, with a 12% grade at about 0.08 miles. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Falls Village show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 75°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F. That station sits well below the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. The trail takes about half an hour to complete, and bikes and horses are not allowed on it. Red Mountain Trail is just 0.7 miles away, and Twin Oaks Trails and Goodbody Preserve Loop Trail are both within about 2.4 miles. Climbers can head to Hough Mountain, roughly 4.9 miles off.
