The trail rises from a low point of 143 feet to a high of 329 feet, with a total elevation gain of 284 feet. The climb is rated easy, and the route is a loop, so you return to your starting point. The steepest stretch comes at about the 1-mile mark, where the grade reaches 21 percent. That makes the trail a short, manageable outing rather than a long climb. The trip takes about half an hour, so it works well as a quick stop or a warm-up before exploring more of the area. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Willimantic show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. Several other trails sit close by. Entrance Road is just 0.1 mile away and Ravine Trail is 0.2 mile away. Berry Bluff Trail is about 1.8 miles off, and Beaver Tail Trail is about 2.2 miles away.
