Kongscut Mountain Trail is an easy hike in Connecticut, about 1.7 miles from the town of Buckingham. The trail is a point-to-point route of roughly a mile, rising from about 460 feet to 802 feet, a climb of 357 feet one way. The steepest part of the trail comes at about half a mile in, with a grade of 15 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Hartford run to highs around 71°F in May and 76°F in September. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. The Yellow Trail and the Glastonbury climbing area both lie within half a mile. The Terwilliger Trail is about 0.8 miles away, and the John and Frederica Johnson Memorial Camp is about 7 miles off.
