Summit

Twin Peaks

Colorado

About

Twin Peaks is a summit in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness, part of the Rio Grande National Forest's Conejos Peak Ranger District in Colorado. The Forest Service manages the land, and the nearest town is Blanca, about 10.5 miles away. A summit route leads to the top, which makes this a peak-bagging objective rather than a casual stop. Because Twin Peaks lies inside designated wilderness, visits here are on foot and under wilderness rules. Its place within the Conejos Peak Ranger District also matters for planning, since the Rio Grande National Forest manages and posts notices for the surrounding country. Several other destinations sit close by. S. Zapata, about a mile off, and South Zapata Lake Trail, roughly 1.4 miles away, are the nearest trails. Zapata Falls Campground is about 2.9 miles out and is a convenient base, while California Peak, around 3.1 miles away, offers another summit hike in the same range.
