Maroon Lake Road is a 4.3-mile route in the Aspen Ranger District of Colorado's White River National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It rises from about 8,450 feet to about 9,560 feet, with a total gain of 1,097 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.9 miles, where the grade reaches 12 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Aspen, which sits roughly 1,400 feet lower, show July highs around 76°F and lows near 48°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 32°F and lows near 10°F. The road passes within a short distance of several other destinations.
