Boomerang Road is a cross-country ski route in the Norwood Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about 0.6 miles long and gains roughly 77 feet in elevation, with the steepest section at about 7% grade near the start. Winter is the natural season for this ski road. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Silverton show January highs around 34°F with lows near -6°F, while July highs reach about 75°F. That station sits well below the road, so temperatures here run cooler. The Magic Meadows Trail starts just 0.1 mile away for more skiing, and the Basin Trail offers a hike about 0.4 mile off. For an overnight stay, Alta Lakes Campground (Dispersed) and Alta Lakes Camping Area are both within about 1.7 miles.
