South Side is a climbing area in the South Platte Ranger District of the Pike and San Isabel National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. It sits alongside the North Side climbing area and the Bird Rock Bouldering area, both about 0.1 mile away, making it easy to pair with those spots in one visit. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Florissant Fossil Bed weather station show July highs around 79°F with lows near 42°F, while winter highs stay in the upper 30s. For more time outdoors, Stone Cabin is a hike about 4 miles away, and the South Platte River offers fishing at a similar distance. Lone Rock Campground is about 6 miles off.
