The Second Boulder is a climbing area in the Norwood Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in Colorado. It sits among a cluster of boulders, with Million Dollar Boulder and Mine Boulder both about 0.1 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Silverton weather station show July highs around 75°F with lows near 38°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s and lows drop to about -6°F in January. Bridal Veil Creek is a hike about 0.7 mile away, and the Silver Lake mountain biking area is about a mile off. Mill Creek Basin Backcountry Camp, roughly 4 miles away, offers backcountry camping, and Canyon Creek, about 6 miles away, is a paddling option.
