Eldorado Canyon State Park is a Colorado state park managed by State Fish and Wildlife, about 7 miles from Boulder. It serves as a base for climbers, with several climbing areas and trails starting right inside the park. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and September. At a nearby weather station, typical averages run to highs around 69°F in May and 76°F in September, with July the warmest at about 87°F. Winter is cold, with January highs near 45°F and lows around 23°F. The West Ridge Climbing Access Trail and Fowler West Trail both lie about a tenth of a mile away. For overnight stays, Winiger Ridge campground is about 4.6 miles off, and Sourdough Springs Campground is about 6.7 miles away.
