Cave Boulder is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land within the Colorado River Valley Field Office in western Colorado. It sits about 0.1 mile from Big Ass Boulder and Waterside Boulder, two other climbing areas, and from Wolcott Campground, so it makes an easy anchor for a day or overnight stay in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Green Mt Dam weather station, about 22.5 miles away, show July highs near 79°F and lows around 44°F. That station sits roughly 840 feet below the climbing area, so temperatures here run a little cooler. The Eagle Valley Trail, a mountain biking route, is about 3.5 miles away. Paddlers can find Lake Creek about 7 miles off, and Piney Guard Station, another campground, is just under 8 miles away.
