Vogel Canyon is an easy hike of about 1.8 miles in the Comanche Ranger District of the Pike and San Isabel National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a total elevation gain of about 14 feet, so it's a short walk with almost no climb. The route is on natural surface, and bikes are allowed. The trail is close to several other short hikes, including Overlook, about 0.1 mile away, and Mesa, about 0.3 mile away. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at La Junta show May highs around 77°F and September highs around 83°F, while July averages about 93°F and winter highs sit in the upper 40s. Withers Canyon Trailhead, about 8.3 miles away, offers camping. Climbers can find Don Wall, The about 9.5 miles away.
