Taylor Mountain is an easy out-and-back hike in the Boulder Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 2.4 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 28 feet, so it's a short walk with almost no climb. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Allenspark put July highs around 74°F with lows near 44°F, while winter highs stay around freezing. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both bikes and horses. The Bright hike starts about half a mile away, and the Taylor Mountain (unmaintained) route is about 0.8 miles off. Climbers can head to Zappa's Tooth, about 1.8 miles away, and Olive Ridge Campground is about 2.1 miles away for an overnight stay.
