Robert Foote is a 3.1-mile out-and-back hike in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the Dillon Ranger District. The trail climbs 548 feet from its low point of 9,355 feet to a high of 9,946 feet, and it's a moderate route open year round. The trail is natural-surfaced and carries horses and bikes, so riders and pack animals can go along. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Dillon, about 5 miles away and roughly 900 feet lower, show July highs near 75°F with lows around 38°F. Winter there runs from highs in the low 30s to highs near 31°F in January, and the station sits well below the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. Peaks Trail and South Rainbow, both mountain biking routes, sit within a third of a mile. Mount Royal, a climbing area near Frisco, is about 1.7 miles away, and Peak One Campground is about 1.9 miles off.
