Beaver Creek is a hard hike in the Boulder Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado, about 4 miles from the town of Ward. The trail is an out-and-back of roughly 13.8 miles, with a one-way climb of about 1,094 feet from a low point of 9,781 feet to a high of 11,385 feet. The route is on natural surface, and horses are allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Boulder run to highs around 68°F in July and 66°F in August, with September still near 59°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the high end run cooler. Mitchell Lake is just 0.1 mile away, and Pawnee Campground is under a mile off. Shoshoni Peak and Indian Peaks, both climbing areas, are within about 4 miles.
