Little Bear Campground sits at about 10,200 feet in the Grand Valley Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in Colorado. The Forest Service manages the site, which has 36 campsites, two of which are wheelchair-accessible. The campground is set in a heavily wooded area of spruce trees, with some sites along the shore of Island Lake. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July highs reach about 68°F with lows near 42°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation. Winters are cold, with January highs typically around 26°F. Vault toilets are the only restrooms on site, and the campground charges a fee. A wheelchair-friendly area sits near the Island Lake Boat Ramp. Island Lake is about 0.2 miles away, the Grand Mesa National Scenic & Historic Byway is about half a mile off, and Island Lake Campground and Cobbett Campground are each within a mile.
