About Death Valley Scenic Byway
Death Valley Scenic Byway is an 81-mile road through Death Valley National Park in California, recognized both as a National Scenic Byway and as a California State Scenic Highway. The route links several small communities, passing through Panamint Springs, Beatty Junction, Park Village, Furnace Creek and Indian Village, so Furnace Creek and Panamint Springs make natural points to start, stop or break up the drive. Several trails and campgrounds sit right along the road. Furnace Creek Campground and Sunset Campground are both within a quarter mile of the route, and the Badlands Loop and Gower Gulch Trail start less than a mile away. Farther along, Darwin Falls is about a mile and a half off the byway.
