Wooly Spider Boulder is a climbing area in Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Stirrup Tank, Hand Grenade Corridor and Pyramid Tower and The Stirrup all about 0.1 mile away. The area is a compact boulder field with a range of routes, from easy trad climbs to a sport route and a harder trad line. The climbing here is mostly trad, with six routes in total. The grades run from 5.2 up to 5.10c, and the hardest is Black Widow. The Spider and The Fly is the only sport route, at 5.9. The area also has a few first ascents on record, including Arachnids in 1986 and The Spider and The Fly in 2005. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Twentynine Palms show March highs around 74°F and October highs around 85°F, while July and August average in the mid-100s.
