The Tehachapi Area is a climbing area in Tehachapi Mountain Park in California, on county land. It sits within the park's boundaries, and the Tehachapi Mountain Trail passes about a mile away, making it an easy pairing for a day that combines climbing with a hike. The area has three sport climbing routes, all on the East Pillar. They range from 5.8 to 5.10b/c, with East Pillar Seam at 5.10a and East Pillar Center at 5.10b/c as the hardest. The routes are all sport, so they are bolted and suited to climbers who prefer that style. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 69°F and October highs around 71°F, while July and August average about 86°F. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet below the park, so temperatures up high run cooler. Other trails close by include the Pacific Crest Nat Scenic Trail, Warrior's Loop and Carcass Cutoff, all within about 6 miles.
