SE Boulders is a climbing area inside Joshua Tree National Park, within the Joshua Tree Wilderness in California. The National Park Service manages the land, and the area sits among a cluster of named climbing spots, with several other crags and trails within a few tenths of a mile. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Yucca Valley weather station run from highs around 73°F with lows near 46°F in April to highs around 80°F with lows near 50°F in October. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the crag, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Summer highs there typically reach the mid-90s, and July and August average the most hot days. The area has 10 routes, with sport climbing and trad climbing each making up about half. Grades range from 5.3 to 5.11-, and some of the named routes are Weapons of Mass Consumption (5.4, sport) and Invisible Baby Joan (5.11-, sport). Fees apply for a visit.
