Pentathlete Wall is a climbing area in California's Tahoe National Forest, within the Truckee Ranger District and managed by the Forest Service. It sits close to a cluster of climbing and riding spots, with Sawtooth Ridge just 0.1 mile away and The Oven about 0.9 mile off. The area has six routes, with sport climbing dominating and a single trad route. Grades run from 5.7 up to 5.11a. Shwibby Shwabby is the hardest, at 5.11a, and Looting at Neverland is the trad option. First ascents of several of these routes date to the early 2000s. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tahoe City put July highs around 78°F with lows near 46°F and only about one wet day in the month. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet below the wall, so temperatures at the climbing area run cooler. Goose Meadows campground is about 1.1 miles away. For riding, the Cena Lar Trail is 0.6 mile off, and the Big Chief Trail (Lower) is about a mile away.
