Mount Woodson is a climbing area in California's City of San Diego Open Space, a city-managed land unit within San Diego. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, with Poison Oak Boulder Area, Central Oaks Area and Hamburger Crack Area all about 0.1 mile away. The area offers a mix of styles, with 25 routes spread across bouldering, trad, mixed and sport climbing. Grades run from about 5.7 to 5.12a, and bouldering on the V scale goes from V2 to V7. Crumpus, a 5.7 trad route, and Arete-Toi, a 5.10- sport route, are two of the named options. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 73°F and November highs around 74°F, while July and August average near 90°F. The station sits roughly 960 feet below the area, so temperatures here run a bit cooler. Warren Canyon Trail is about 0.4 mile away, and Fry/Koegel Trail is about 0.9 mile away.
