Luminance Block is a bouldering area in California's Inyo National Forest, within the White Mountain Ranger District. It sits on city land and is managed as a climbing destination rather than a trail. The area's climbing is all bouldering, with five routes spread across a range of grades from V5+ to V10. Among them are Luminance at V9 and Too Big To Flail at V10, the latter first climbed by Alex Honnold. The Golden Rule, a V5+ boulder, was first climbed by Kevin Jorgeson. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 74°F with lows near 49°F and only one or two wet days a month, while winter highs sit in the low 40s. Two other climbing areas, Windy Wall and Secrets of the Beehive Area, both lie about 0.1 mile away. For an overnight base, Horton Creek Campground is about 3.1 miles off, and the Horton Lakes hike starts at a similar distance.
