Loveland is a climbing area in California's Joshua Tree National Park, within the Joshua Tree Wilderness. The National Park Service manages the land, and the area sits inside the park's designated wilderness, about 20 miles from Yucca Valley. The climbing here is a mix of traditional and sport routes, with 26 listed in total. Traditional routes dominate, with 21 of the climbs falling into that style. The YDS grade range runs from 5.7 to 5.12a, and the median is 5.10b. The hardest route is Quasar at 5.12a. Sport routes make up the rest. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yucca Valley show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while summer highs climb to the mid-90s. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. Loveland is a compact cluster of boulders and crags. The Bond Boulders and Bad Cop Rock are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Beak Boulder Area is about 0.3 mile off. Split Rock Trail, about 0.9 mile away, is the closest hike.
