The Hardy Boy Area is a climbing area in Mount Rubidoux Park in California, on city land. It sits among a cluster of bouldering spots that also includes John Long Boulder and Joe Brown's Helmet, all within about a tenth of a mile. The area has six climbing routes, five of which are boulders and one is a sport route. The boulders run from V0 to V6-7, with The Octopus at the top end. The sport route is rated 5.12. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 70°F in January and 69°F in December to about 97°F in August. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the park, so temperatures at the climbing area may run a little cooler. The Park path and Hunter park path are both within about 3 miles, and the Gage Canal Path is roughly 4 miles away.
