Granny Slab is a climbing area in California's Inyo National Forest, within the White Mountain Ranger District. The land is managed by the Forest Service, and the area sits among several other climbing spots, including Magnus Pillar and Solstice Wall, both about 0.1 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Mammoth Lakes put July highs around 78°F with lows near 49°F, and that station sits roughly 1,600 feet below the slab, so temperatures at the slab run cooler. The area offers nine traditional routes, with grades ranging from 5.7 up to 5.11a/b. Among the named routes are I'm 26 and You're 80 (5.10b) and Boomin' Granny (5.10d), both first ascended by Jim Barnes and Howie Schwartz in 2017. The closest camping is at Big Meadow Campground, about 0.6 mile away, and the Upper Rock Creek Canyon Trail is about 0.9 mile off.
