Echo Cove - South Face is a climbing area in Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of Echo Cove climbing areas, with Echo Cove - South Side and Echo Cove - North Side each about 0.1 mile away, and Arete Boulders also within a tenth of a mile. The Echo T Trailhead and Barker Dam Trail are both about 0.2 mile off, so the area works well as a base for a day of climbing and a short walk. The climbing here is a mix of trad and sport routes, with 34 routes in total. The YDS grades run from 5.7 up to 5.12a, and the median is 5.10a. Among the named routes are Allergy at 5.7, Central Pilar of Finley at 5.8, and The Riddler at 5.12a. Life and Limb is a mixed route at 5.11a. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yucca Valley show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while July and August average about 96°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the park, so temperatures at the cove run cooler. A fee is charged for park use. Sheep Pass Group campground is about 2.9 miles away for anyone planning an overnight stay.
