Cleavage Rock is a climbing area in the Sunol Regional Wilderness of California, on Regional Agency Land. It sits in the heart of a cluster of climbing and hiking destinations that sit within a short walk of one another. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Livermore show May and October highs around 77°F with lows near 50°F, while July and August average highs of 89°F. That station sits about 570 feet lower than the rock, so temperatures at the crag run a bit cooler. The climbing area holds 10 routes, ranging from the 5.4 Cote Memorial Wall to the 5.11b West face of Northwest Rock Roof Problem. Sport and mixed styles dominate, with two bouldering routes on hand for those who prefer to stay on the ground. Indian Joe Caves is right next door, and the Indian Joe Creek Trail and Eagle View Trail both start within about half a mile.
