It sits within the recreation area's network of trails and crags, close to the Backbone Trail and the Corpse Wall climbing area. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 77°F, with summer running warmer and drier, peaking near 83°F in August. That station sits well below the area, so temperatures on higher ground run cooler. The Backbone Trail - Saddle Peak and the Corpse Wall climbing area are both about half a mile away.
