The Lair is a climbing area in California, about 4 miles from the town of Woodleaf. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with The Shock Block and Iron Curtain both about 0.1 mile away and Wine Wall at a similar distance. The Palisades Trail starts about 0.2 mile off, making it easy to pair a hike with a day on the rock. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 72°F, with only a few wet days in each month. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the Lair, so temperatures here run slightly cooler. For more time outdoors, the Climbers Approach Trail and Table Rock Trail are both within a mile. Paddlers can head to Maacama Creek, about 9.5 miles away.
