The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the trail sits at an elevation of about 6,258 feet, rising to about 6,316 feet over the course of 0.32 miles. The climb is rated hard, so riders should be prepared for a steep grade on this short stretch of trail. Summer is the warmest time to ride. Typical averages from the nearby Bowman Dam weather station, which sits roughly 900 feet lower, show July highs around 82°F and lows near 54°F.
