Chipmunk is a short, easy mountain biking route in the Mt. Shasta Ranger District of Shasta-Trinity National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It is part of the Gateway Trail System's "Learning Zone," and the ride is about 1.4 miles out and back, with a one-way climb of 166 feet from a low point of about 5,419 feet to a high of about 5,592 feet. The route is close to the ranger district's gateway, so it works well as a short outing in this part of the forest. The trail is within the Learning Zone, and dogs are allowed here. The closest neighbors are Marmot's Hideout and Huckleberry Loop (South), both about a tenth of a mile away. Panther Creek offers canoeing about 2.5 miles off, and Panther Meadows Campground is about 4.1 miles away for an overnight stay.
