SM01G Snow Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in California's Stanislaus National Forest, within the Calaveras Ranger District. The trail is about 1.2 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 289 feet, and it starts at roughly 7,795 feet, rising to a high point of about 7,995 feet before returning to the starting level. The climb is gentle overall, with the steepest stretch coming at about 0.42 miles in, where the grade reaches 18 percent. The trail is an easy addition to a day in the area, and the trip takes about half an hour. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Dagget Pass, Nevada, show July highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F and only about two wet days in the month. That station sits roughly 660 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The 8N13g Snow Trail, a mountain biking route, lies about 0.2 miles away.
