Prosser Knob Loop is a 5.9-mile out-and-back hike in the Truckee Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 640 feet from a low point of 6,012 feet to a high of 6,574 feet, and it is rated moderate. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Sagehen Creek weather station, at a similar elevation, run to highs around 80°F in July and August with lows in the mid-30s. Winter is cold, with January highs near 40°F and lows around 15°F. The trail is on natural surface and bikes are allowed. Prosser Creek, a canoeing spot, lies just 0.1 mile away, and the Commemorative Overland Emigrant Trail and Donner Camp are both within a mile. Lakeside (Truckee) campground is about 1.1 miles off.
