Little South Fork is a hard hike in California's Trinity Alps Wilderness, part of the Salmon River Ranger District of Klamath National Forest. The route is an out-and-back that climbs from about 3,000 feet to nearly 7,000 feet, with a total elevation gain of 4,538 feet over 17.4 miles. The trail is a natural-surface route through designated wilderness, and the Forest Service manages the land. The climb is long and steep, so plan on a full day or more. The high point reaches 6,949 feet, and the low point sits at 2,998 feet. Several other destinations lie close by. Rush Creek and South Fork are both about 1.4 miles away, and the South Fork Salmon River offers canoeing about 1.7 miles off. Big Flat Campground, about 5 miles away, is the nearest place to camp.
