Convict Lake Vis is a short, easy hike in the Mammoth Ranger District of Inyo National Forest, about 0.7 miles long and rated easy. The trail is paved and accessible, and it rises only about 10 feet from its low point of 7,588 feet to a high of 7,612 feet. It is managed by the Forest Service. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mammoth Lakes show July highs around 78°F with lows near 49°F, while winter highs sit around 41°F. The trail starts close to Convict Lake Campground and the Convict Lake Trail, both about 0.3 miles away, and the Convict Pack Station hike is about half a mile off. Mt. Morrison, a climbing area, lies about 1.5 miles away.
